Want a web site setting up for your region?

This web site was designed by Alan Dudhill, the Notts RO, who has agreed to help other regions set up their own sites.

Some of the reasons why web sites are so useful for regions:

• They help promote the PAC, pike conservation and fishing.
• It's a good central point of contact for information about your region, events and member updates.
• It illiminates the need to post out news letters to every member, reducing the running costs of a region.
• A web site will help you gain sponsorship from local businesses in return for listing them on your site or linking to their sites.
• Sites can include their own forum, feedback pages and picture galleries.

I want help with setting up a site, what do I have to do?

• Contact Alan, who will talk you through the process of purchasing a domain name (web address) and setting up an account with an internet server. Tel: 07815 308463, e-mail: alan@piketrace.co.uk
• Once you've got your account details, simply e-mail to Alan for him to set up the basic web site and pages you require.
• Once Alan has set up the web site, you will be able to log into your account to do your own updating and continue to build your site.

Is it difficult to update and build the site myself?

The internet provider has it's own updating programme so you can add extra pages, type in your own text, add your own pictures and links, etc. This is a very simple programme to use and is designed to allow anyone with very basic computer skills to be able to update and continue to build their own site. The programme will also save your work automatically should you delete something by accident, so pretty fool-proof.

Server charges: Approx. £6.00 per month

Domain name: From approx. £5.00 per year

Web design and set-up: from £150.00 (one off fee)

So you will be able to get your own web site set up for as little as £150.00, with running costs of as little as £11.00 per month.
